A Drug De-Addiction Awareness and Treatment Camp was organized on 22nd August 2025 at Rajgarh, under the joint efforts of Akal De-Addiction cum Psychiatric Centre, Baru Sahib (H.P.), in collaboration with Akal College of Nursing and Akal School of Public Health, Eternal University.

The camp was coordinated and actively facilitated by Ms. Manisha (Assistant Professor Mental Health Nursing), Students Ms. Manisha Thakur and Ms. Chander Rekha, along with guidance from the psychiatrist Jasjit Singh Sodhi and medical professionals associated with the centre.

The camp aimed at spreading awareness regarding drug addiction, its harmful effects, and available treatment and support systems to help the affected isndividuals and their families.

Objectives

1. To educate the community about the types and effects of drugs.

2. To highlight the risks and consequences of substance abuse.

3. To provide information on assistance and support systems available for de-addiction.

4. To promote successful strategies and solutions for overcoming addiction.

5. To offer free counselling and medical consultation to the participants.

Activities Conducted

Awareness Session: A detailed lecture was delivered by the psychiatrist and faculty, explaining the medical, psychological, and social consequences of drug abuse.

Counselling & Interaction: Participants interacted with the experts and clarified doubts about addiction, withdrawal, and treatment options.

Group Discussions: Students and community members were engaged in open discussions to share their views and experiences.

Free Check-Up & Consultation: Willing individuals were provided with health check-ups and referred for further treatment if required.

Outcomes

Many participants expressed their commitment to spread the message against drug abuse in their families and neighbourhoods.

Several individuals with addiction issues were motivated to seek treatment at the Akal De-Addiction Centre.

The event successfully created awareness and sensitivity among the youth and community about the dangers of drug use.
